Critical illness cover is an insurance policy that pays out a tax-free lump sum if you become critically ill. You can use the money however you like – whether that’s to help cover health-related costs, monthly expenses, or lost income while you get better. Aviva’s cover also includes cover for your child (1), paying out if your child is diagnosed with, or undergoes surgery for, a critical illness.

Things to bear in mind:
• Aviva critical illness cover will pay out if you’re diagnosed with or have surgery for a
condition that meets our policy definition during the term of the policy and survive for at
least 10 days
• We only cover conditions we define in our policy and no others
• There’s no cash-in value
• Inflation could reduce the value over time
• You need to be a UK resident aged between 18 and 64 to apply
• Cashback is payable after your sixth monthly premium has been received, and value is dependent on the premiums paid (T&Cs apply)
- If your child has a critical (not terminal) illness, we’ll pay up to £25,000, or 50% of the cover amount (whichever is lower). It’s valid from when they’re 30 days old until they’re 18 (or 21 if they’re in full time education).

- The policy must end before you turn 76.
