Where it all began
The brand started in 2014 as an idea born out of frustration when founder Dani Holloway had a corporate job in Melbourne, Australia.

Having grown up on a farm, she was familiar with how useful gumboots could be, but couldn’t find a pair which bridged the gap between country and city life.
As a result, she made the decision to take a pretty crazy leap of faith and set out to create her own boots. Reaching out to a friend for some technical help, the first Merry People boot was born.
With a business plan in hand, Dani booked some flights to China to meet with potential suppliers.
