ARSENAL
This was going to be a summer of change for Arsenal; the press were being briefed about the extra money available to Arsène Wenger and the suggestion was that a number of star signings would arrive by the season's kick off.
Fast forward through the summer and it has been another summer of discontent for Arsenal fans. Real Madrid's Gonzalo Higuain was repeatedly linked with a move to the Emirates stadium, but that move hasn't materialised and the striker has instead signed for Italian side Napoli.
Meanwhile the rumours of Wayne Rooney possibly moving south might have a ring of truth about them, but his destination is more likely to be on the western side of London. There's still time but the transfer window clock is ticking and the opportunity to allow new arrivals to settle is diminishing.
That's not to say that Arsenal don't have a strong squad, but with the reinforcements coming in at Chelsea, Tottenham and Manchester City (and given United's strength already), the risk of being squeezed out of the top four is palpable.
This position is one that Wenger has grown used to over the years - despite numerous seasons of being warned about the risk of not reinforcing, Arsenal continue to find the willpower and the strength to finish in the top four.
Arsenal’s first televised game of the season is a cracker, with North London rivals Tottenham visiting The Emirates on Sunday the 1st of September, live on Sky Sports 1HD and Sky Sports 3D.
