Although TopCashback has developed exponentially since it started in 2005, our purpose and core values remain the same as they were on day one. However, to paraphrase Spiderman, with growth and progress comes responsibility.
We’d be lying if we said we didn’t want to make a profit. What sets us apart is how we decide to spend that profit. Much like our members, we like to spend our money wisely. We’re making smart, ethical decisions now, that will help shape our future.
The money we receive from brands (i.e. your cashback) is returned to our members. We’re not called the most generous cashback site in the UK for nothing.
However, the profit we make thanks to advertising revenue, we are putting into what we believe are good causes and makes our money work harder at the same time. You might say we’re invested in investing in the future.
Impact investing, in short, means that we are putting funds into organizations that have a genuine intention to generate a tangible, beneficial social or environmental impact, as well as a financial return. In other words, we’re saving in more ways than one for a rainy day.
Some of the companies that we are currently investing in are:
• Bluefield Solar – Bluefield invests in solar energy across the UK, which contributes directly towards the decarbonization of electricity generation.
• Vodacom – Vodacom provides business services to customers in over 40 African countries, creating tangible socio-economic benefits for local populations in developing countries.
• DS Smith – DS Smith is a global provider of corrugated packaging and a specialist in plastic packaging. Their expertise in supply and recycling allows the company to offer high quality, environmentally friendly and innovative solutions that answers all the customer’s packaging needs.
• Gresham House Timberland LP – Gresham House Timberland LP owns an established portfolio of UK commercial forests. We wanted to invest here for the obvious environmental and climatic benefits forestry can have.
• Abiomed (via Baillie Gifford Positive Change) – Abiomed develops and manufactures the world’s smallest heart pump (the Impella device), which is used to treat coronary heart disease and heart attacks.
