Details of the "Hotel" were gave me the impression this was a reputable hotel lodging that I was booking. In fact it was a basic B&B without Breakfast included at the locale, trading on the same name as a nearby reputable establishment of quality apartments. The site will not allow me to add a review to warn fellow travellers - presumably because they don't like negative reviews.

Have now used hotels.com several times for assorted European hotel bookings - always very good prices, made even better by the regular issuing of discount codes via TCB. No problems whatsoever with cashback payments. Last christmas, through a combination of flight cancellations and then further delays with the rearranged flight, we had to abandon our trip to Berlin. Got in touch with hotels.com As i was expecting to have to pay for at least one night's accommodation as stated on the cancellation policy at the time of booking, I was highly impressed with the customer service who sorted out that the FULL payment was recredited to my credit card within days.

Put in a missing cashback just as a precaution as they only account for it when you have stayed for obvious reasons and this can be sometime after you book. The cashback did arrive just before the stay. Booking went through OK, hotel was fine as advertised and I would happily use them again.

Hotels.com didn't post my chunky (£232) cashback reward so I submitted a manual tracking claim via TopCashback. The full sum appeared on my account within just a few days with no quibbling so all credit to Hotels.com and TopCashback for sorting it out as quickly as they did. Two tips I would pass on to other TopCashback members though. 1) Keep your confirmation email from the merchant until you've got the cashback - you'll need the reference numbers on it, and the date/time of the email guides you towards the date/time of your visit to the retailer (needed to submit a claim!) 2) Stick a note on your calendar to follow up in x number of weeks if the cashback doesn't appear. I'm sure all retailers would rather 'forget' to record the cashback transaction. You shouldn't.

Transaction tracked fast and reached confirmed status with no problems. However, nothing has happened since...and the transaction is from early June. Fingers are firmly crossed that the transaction will actually become payable at some point soon...

I have never used TCB for hotel bookings before so was a bit dubious especially as hotels were overseas. Very easy site to use and the cashback tracked straightaway. The email confirming reservations was detailed and prompt. I am intending to use them again for the next stage of our holiday.
