SSE Fix and Control v2 gives customers fixed price energy for two years, plus a Google Nest Thermostat E and Google Nest Hub. As well as no guaranteed price rises on your bills for 24 months and the smart home package, you’ll also benefit from 100% renewable electricity, which will see them match your usage with hydro and wind power.

A smart meter is also included and they’ll contact you to arrange an installation at no extra cost. There is a £75 per fuel early exit fee with this plan. If you want to avoid an early exit fee, you can choose either the SSE 1 Year Fix v2 tariff or the SSE 2 Year Fix v4 tariff, which will allow you to fix your energy prices for one or two years respectively. Finally, there’s the Standard Tariff — a simple energy plan with no ties.

The fact it offers flexible energy means energy prices may go up and down, but there’s no early exit fee. Unlike the other gas and electricity tariffs, the Standard Tariff is available to pay as you go customers. You can also benefit from great discounts with one of their great value bundles. These will allow you to make great savings compared to buying their equivalent standalone products.

The SSE Fix and Protect v2 bundle includes heating and breakdown cover for an extra £9.50 per month, while the SSE Fix and Fibre v2 bundle includes energy plus £23 Unlimited Fibre broadband, or you can upgrade to Fibre Plus at no extra cost. These bundles are only available when you pay by Direct Debit.

Have smart meters installed to replace the existing energy meters in your house and you can send SSE regular meter readings automatically for more accurate billing. This means you won't have to read your meters.

You’ll also be able to see how much energy you’re using on a handy device called an In-Home Display, or by logging in to your SSE account. If you want even more control over your heating, you can sign up to the SSE Fix and Control v2 plan and get your hands on a Google Nest Thermostat E and Google Nest Hub — as well as enjoying fixed price energy for two years.

The intelligent Nest will learn from you and turn the heating down automatically when you leave your property, helping you to save energy and money. You’ll also find controlling the temperature a breeze when you are at home with the Nest Hub.

There are many ways to pay your gas and electricity bill, meaning you can choose the one which suits you best.

Paying by Direct Debit allows you to set up an automatic payment on a specific date, so you won’t have to worry about paying when a bill arrives. You’ll also get a £40 per fuel discount if you pay by monthly or variable Direct Debit. They’ll check your payments each year to make sure you’re paying the right amount too.

With a variable Direct Debit, you’ll pay your energy bill in full each quarter. You can also pay using your SSE online account by logging in, opening the relevant product and choosing Make a Payment. If you prefer, you can wait until you receive your bill and pay online, over the phone or by cheque within 14 calendar days, or by cash at any Post Office or bank.

SSE stands for Scottish and Southern Energy, which was formed in 1998, when Southern Electric and Scottish Hydro merged. The SWALEC and Atlantic brands were later added, but they are all part of the SSE family.

SSE was formed in December 1998, following the merger of Scottish Hydro Electric and Southern Electric. They manage one of the largest distribution networks in the UK, supplying gas and electricity to more than 10 million customers throughout England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland. SSE operate a number of subsidiaries in different parts of the UK, while they also provide boiler and heating cover.

SSE offer three broadband packages. Everyday Broadband is their most affordable package and uses an ADSL connection, which will give you unlimited data and a maximum download speed of 17Mbs. Their Superfast fibre broadband also offers unlimited data, and supports download speeds of up to 38Mbs, while the Ultrafast Broadband package gives a top speed of 76Mbs.
