Routes and Destinations

No matter where you are planning on staying or visiting once you get to the Isle of Wight, Wightlink ferries have you covered from east to west.

They operate three Isle of Wight ferry routes from the UK mainland, which take from between 22 minutes and 45 minutes. If you are taking your car, the shortest and fastest route offered is between Lymington and Yarmouth, which takes 40 minutes. This is ideal if you are visiting the west of the island and its wonderful scenery.

Portsmouth harbour offers excellent links to the mainland's motorway network and is also ideal for convenient rail connections. You can catch a car ferry from there to Fishbourne, which will take 45 minutes and is ideal if you are exploring the east and central areas of the Isle of Wight. Finally, a FastCat foot passenger service between Portsmouth and Ryde is operated by modern catamarans, which complete the journey in just 22 minutes.

The mainland terminal is right next to Portsmouth Harbour railway station and the nearby bus interchange, while Ryde is also great for public transport links to other parts of the island, such as Cowes.

Ticket Options

If you are thinking of travelling on an Isle of Wight ferry operated by Wightlink for a family holiday or short break, you will discover various ticket options available for your chosen journey, whether you are a foot passenger or taking your vehicle.

Foot passengers can choose from day return, return, single and Evening Flyer options, while there are day return, return and Evening Flyer family tickets available for either one adult and four children or two adults and three children.

Passenger vehicle fares vary depending on the time and day of travel, the vehicle size and the capacity available on board ferries at the time of checking availability. However, the sooner you book and the more flexible you can be, the less it is likely to cost you. Foot passengers travelling in a group of between 10 and 40 can take advantage of discounted fares, while Blue Badge holders can get up to 25% off tickets.

If you are a regular traveller, you can buy a Multilink pass, valid for 12 months, for 10, 20, 40 or 60 single journeys offering a discount on the standard rate, while seven-day, 30-day, 90-day, 180-day and annual season tickets are available for adults, children, students and those in education and training.
