Many negative reviews around for Europcar to be found both on Topcashback and google and I can add yet another. I was the victim of what appears to be a deliberate fraud by Europcar whereby on the morning of the last day of a rental here in the UK I called the hire branch to arrange a collection of the vehicle by the branch as I was short of time to return the vehicle myself. What happened was that a different branch collected the car and returned it to their branch. This resulted in a 'one-way' charge of £48 being taken from my credit card without my authorisation and without my knowlewdge. The charge should never have been applied to the rental as it was nothing what-so-ever to do with me that a different branch collected the car to the one I rented from. It took an email(which they took over a week to reply to) and a 20 min phone call to customer services to sort it out and obtain a refund. A nice try by Europcar to fraudulently obtain revenue from me and God knows how many other times they they've tried it with customers and been successful due to customers not checking their invoices. In addition, Europcar have an additional scam on the go when you book a vehicle through their website. It operates as follows: When you obtain a quote through the Europcar website there is a default option whereby you put in your postcode/town and the dates you want the rental for. This brings back results starting with the cheapest vehicle available and some options to choose from. You then must collect the vehicle from the hire station and return it there on completion of the rental period. Now, here's the scam - also on the homepage of the Europcar website there is an option to book under the banner 'Delivery' or 'Delivery and Collection' When you click on either of these options a pop-up appears advising that delivery and collection is free(under certain conditions, such as within a 5 mile radius of hire station). Having been diasappointed with experiences with Avis and Hertz, I have since been using Europcar. And been very impressed. Good prices, (even better with cashback) and very good, clean new cars. Excellent.

I rented through Europcar in April and May 2012. Actual car rental experience was professional and fine. However cashback failed to track, and my missing cashback claims (which were submitted soon after each rental) are still unresolved...nearly 12 months on!! I don't understand why it is taking Europcar so long to pay my cashback!! A very poor cashback experience.

Purchase made on 2 December, tracked within 24 hours. Was showing 8 weeks payable at the time of purchase, now on 7 Feb showing 9 weeks. I am still waiting for the cashback to turn payable so hopefully it will show as payable next week, rather than wait until 9 weeks and change to 10 weeks.

Really disappointed with all of this. Booked because of cashback on offer, could have booked with other providers but went with this one because of cashback rate - cash back has never materialised despite numerous prompts/nudges and not a word back. The car we received was no where near the spec. we had paid for. Would not book again.

Tracked to confirmed within about 2 days! Good service too, with the hire car delivered to the house and collected at the end of the hire period. Would definitely use again.

I used Europcar a few months back and I was so impressed by their service, and the quality of the car provided. On that basis that I have just made another booking, this time through TopCashBack and I hope they don't disappoint. I have tried other big names in the car rental business and been disappointed. Hired two vehicles from this company both via topcashback to be collected from Toulon airport in France, cashback total was near £200, this tracked but one of the hires paid as £0.00 and the other just sits in my pending at £83.81. One of the cars was what I would class as severely damaged, broken rear light cover, damage on every panel, the other car was fine. On booking we opted for the free carseats that they offer on the website only to be told at Toulon that these were extra, as I couldn’t review my invoice at the depot I paid up but on returning home it clearly stated on the invoice carseats x 3 = £0.00. Disappointed with the customer service, disappointed with one of the cars, disappointed with the false carseat offer and disappointed with them not honouring the cashback. All in all a thoroughly disappointing experience, would not recommend!

Had to make a claim for cashback which took to long for Europcar to pay up. Had problems with Europcar with regards to overcharging. Shocking customer service and still not resolved. Will never use again

Cashback didn't originally track so I raised a claim for it. After hearing nothing for 6 months regarding the claim, I sent a nudge to TCB and they got back to me within a couple of days instantly providing the missing credit.

Cashback didn't track initially, then it seemed to take forever to get them to register it. Customer service leaves a lot to be desired as they totally ignored my communications with respect to the hire. I'll only use Europcar as a last resort in future.

Car collected at Pisa. Got Bay number and went to get the car. It was smaller that the one we'd paid for. Went back to the desk and were told we had been downgraded! Said we would get refund of the difference when we returned car. Turned out WE had to request refund from Customer Services. Took nearly 3 weeks by which time £/€ had changed, so we got less than due. Worst service ever! Never again Eurocar!

Clicked through Topcashback and purchased a rental from Euopcar. Purchase date was 2nd April 2011, missing cashback ticket raised 8th April. Have sent a few nudges but it's now months later and I've heard nothing... Was purchased in the same way as normal and all other purchases through Topcashback tracked OK that day, just not this one. Had update from Topcashback on the 24th April that they had "submitted missing commission claim to Europcar UK" but no answer since. Europcar have been sent my booking details etc and Topcashback have a record of the visit which the booking was purchased from but it doesn't look promising, will use a different company for vehicle rental next time - I prefer the companies I use to actually honour their agreements...
