Always initially declines, then putting in a claim results in a lower cashback value than anticipated. Initial cashback given by TCB quotes Ensure you take VAT off the eligible amount for cashback into your consideration as the cashback you receive through this may be lower than the saving you stand to make by booking through an alternative provider without having to go through the rigamole of claiming cashback.

I booked 15 rooms in various towns on a US road trip. 4 hotels didnt track. Of those that did i was never able to tie in the amount I paid to what they actually paid in cashback. I realise VAT amount not included but it was difficult to track what was paid. I had to chase 4 others as they stalled during the process. Having said that I had an issue with one hotel during the holiday and upon my return Hotels.com via Twitter sorted everything out. Post holiday care was very good. Would definately book with them again. Id just keep better notes on my transactions to make everything easier next time.

I book a lot of hotels through Hotels.com, mainly due to their own reward program and the cashback on here. The rates have definitely dropped considerably over the past year and I have had more than 3 occasions where the payment didn't register and they declined the missing payment. Otherwise they would have got 5 stars.
