SSE Energy Reviews

Take a look at the SSE Energy reviews below and you’ll see plenty of five-star feedback from TopCashback members who signed up with them through us. While many mention cashback, the energy company also comes in for praise for their service. On the subject of cashback, one delighted customer said: “Took out a new fuel supply with them in October, which was switched over by November. First Direct Debit came out in December and cashback immediately went from pending to payable.”

Other comments you’ll find include “nice little treat and pretty fast payment” and “very quick — paid as soon as my first month’s payment came out”. Another member stated: “Took out my boiler plan in October and received payout in February. The plan is great and they were out to service my boiler very quickly.” Others who have commented on the company said such things as “very easy to deal with” and “very helpful and efficient service — can’t fault them really”. While their overall rating on Trustpilot isn’t good, you will find some very positive SSE Energy review feedback.

One customer described them by saying: “Best energy company ever — so helpful, polite and value for money. I have energy and broadband with SSE for under £50 a month, which is fabulous.” Other remarks include “always friendly and helpful — any problems get sorted quickly and efficiently”, “I have been a customer of SSE for three years now and have nothing but praise for them” and “never had a single problem with SSE”. Someone else wrote: “I can honestly, hand on heart, say that the customer service with SSE has got to be the best I have received from a company.” Log in to review

Also I have no idea why my post on 150812 shows 5 stars.. it is definitely a ZERO for SSE.... but not for tcb and their efforts...

This payment is a month late and counting. First it tracked a single fuel and now it is duel fuel but the 2nd amount is not due for a further 3 months more then it should be. I can only assume this will also be late. Now thinking of changing supplier because they have in effect broken the contract.

I've used SSE via TopCashBack twice (some years ago, and this year) and got the full dual fuel cashback on both occasions. It does take a while, but it comes. I use a separate browser for TopCashBack (Firefox), clear all cookies before I start, and go to no other sites during the session. I signed up in Dec 2011, it was tracked on the next day as single fuel (as explained in the 'Merchant notes' on TCB: " Please note that Dual Fuel cashback will be added manually once the status of your application has been confirmed by SSE." ). TCB's notes also say "Validation: Transactions usually take around 6 weeks to validate but they MAY take up to 6 months to validate as it can sometimes take that long for an energy supply to switch over. In these cases a transaction will track at "pending" until the actual energy switch has taken place and commencement of fuel(s) supply by SSE has occurred." This is not accurate, as you will see next, and I have pointed this out to TCB, but it hasn't been amended yet ("From time to time the information displayed here may be out of date." ) The 'actual energy switch' took place towards the end of January for both fuels, but the status stayed 'single fuel' 'pending'. The "Validation/confirmation" in fact did not occur until early March, the 'manual' update to Dual Fuel occured a week later. The 'estimated payable date' for fuel 1 was end of May, fuel 2 was end of August. Both in fact became payable this week (mid June), so 6 months from sign-up, 5 months from switchover. As I said at the start it takes a while but it comes. I hope this helps people to know what to expect. (Incidentally, I have always found SSE/Atlantic customer service to be excellent, EDF pretty poor, and B.Gas simply diabolical - just my experience.)

I am still waiting 13 months for payment!! on 12 june i got a message from topcash saying it would be paid as SSE have agreed to pay..BUT today under SSE on my earnings it states 0.00 not being paid.. (not topcash fault as they are doing their best and have been very helpful)..very frustrating when I have spent over 700 pounds last year paying their bills!! my advice is stay away from SSE and I do not normally complain..Thanks

TCB failed to honour cashback from SSE/Marks & Spencer blaming SSE who said "I failed to observe their T & C's

Still the same problem, very slow to pay out esp if you have duel fuel, one of the fuels never tracks. Its about time TCB put a warning up re this company. I did get my £60 duel fuel but it took best part of a year plus lots of messages to TCB

I am not normally a complainer and really do appreciate this site and what it does. I have had very good experiences with topcash but in relation to this purchase all in all, it is not too good. I signed up to SSE in May 2011 and it did not track. In Oct 2011, Topcash assisted me with getting it to track onto my account after 6 months or so which was great and I thought it was all sorted.. However, after 'another' 6 months, still nothing and no sign of it. A bit frustrating as 46 pounds is a good sum especially as it was the main reason I transferred my electric and gas. Trouble is, cashback is not guaranteed, so I want to warn others, it may take over a year to get your cash!! May not be worth it? If I ever get it, I will let you know the timescales. Thanks

Top cashback need to withdraw SSE/Alantic because they do not pay these offers out. I see they have a put a note regarding Npower before you sign up.

Tracked quickly - but only as a single fuel purchase. Couple of months later after enquiry went to Confirmed on dual fuel cashback. Still not payable over 4 months later - well past expected payment date. Not great....

This is the response I got from SSE/Atlantic when I complained about cashback not being received after 8 months: "I have checked on your account and have spoken with our Welcomeline team and our Registration Department and they have told me that this would be a 3rd Party issue as you took this offer up via the cashback site of topcashback.co.uk. We have no offer like this with the internet sign ons so you do need to go back to them and enquiry why they have not given you your cashback".
