The easy application process also comes in for praise in Hastings Direct Car Insurance review feedback, as does their good customer service, while one member says they were very helpful following an accident. Members are happy with the good rate of cashback offered and the fact that it is paid on time, while one was surprised to receive a reminder that cashback was payable in their account.

Hastings Direct’s four-star rating on Trustpilot is largely down to people saying such things as “cheapest on the Internet” or “brilliant and easily the cheapest by miles”. Customers are also happy with what they describe as a reasonable excess and the fact their policy includes personal accident cover, while another was delighted to get good comprehensive cover at a reasonable price with lots of extras included.

One person who left feedback says Hastings beat their renewal quote by £500, while they are also thanked for always being friendly and helpful, providing a “great price for a young driver” and for the fact it is easy to manage a policy online. Even if Hastings direct gives the lowest quote I would NOT RECCOMEND you use this company. The service they offer if you make a claim (as I have) is shocking. If you would need a speedy payout/solution to an accident then go with another company. Hastings Direct keep you on hold and do nothing unless you constantly pester them. Just imagine how much money you will spend on phone calls. To add insult to injury, I still have not received the cash back 9 months on from taking the policy despite it tracking perfectly. Avoid this company and warn your family and friends. Wish Id paid the extra on the premium and gone with direct line.

I purchased insurance through topcashback in August. It never tracked. Said could be 2 months. Enquired in January told 100 days is the limit so lost it. wont be dealing with Hastingsdirect again.

Good price for car insurance, decent cashback and tracked quickly - but beware if you want to make any changes to the policy! 0844 number (rip off), a £35 amendment fee (completely non-negotiable!) and indifferent staff. If you are completely sure that your circumstances will not change, then go for it - you'll probably get a pretty good deal. For me, with over 33 years driving free of bans, serious accidents or claims, I expect a bit more respect and not to be treated as an easy way to make a quick £35 (wiping out all of the cashback and more). I will definitely never use them again, even if they are the least expensive when the policy ends (it's another £55 if you want to cancel before)!

As long as your happy to wait a few months for your cashback to become payable then taking out insurance with Hastings has alway been worthwhile. The insurance is normally amongst the cheapest available, and once you get the cashback it's normally the cheapest. I've had £150 back over a couple of years and a couple of different insurances with Hastings

Atrocious, atrocious, atrocious - complete con merchants from start to finish and they have you over a barrel because all they have to say is you did not do the process correctly. This lot should be dropped by Topcashback immediately and absolutely miserable experience from start to finish - do not buy a policy on the expectation you will ever be paid cashback! - you have been warned!!

bad times...been waiting since april 2010 for my money back...no sign of it and site is seeming to do sweet nothing to help and its awaiting merhcant...sent several nudges and mails and zip...avoid them at your peril...

I attempted to get cash back from Hastings Direct and purchased a reasonably competative policy but they failed to track the cashback even though I sent my policy details to them and it had registed that i had been to the site on the day of purchase. Top Cash back were helpful but I've given up in the end. I've changed home address since april and found Hastings Direct Customer services very poor and unprofessional, they sent me the wrong information through the post and the staff don't seem to know whats going on.

i would avoid this merchant like the plague. my cash back was registered straight away ,£58 pounds, and this made the insurence the cheapest. however having waited the three months, the £58 changed to zero and inspite of trying to chase up the claim since june, it has now gone altogether from my profile. i'm still trying to chase it up but wish i had gone with another merchant and reading most of the comment on the home insurence, i really believe that top cash back should remove this merchant as they are getting business with false advertising!

Purchased a car insurance policy April 2010, and it tracked at 0.00 then disappeared. Waiting soo long now I can't even remember how much the cashback was supposed to be. Shambles !

When the policy arrived it was not what was expected. To cancel would cost £25, which I suspect is illegal under distance selling regulations, to put it right would cost £10 extra. Not a very good start & will be giving this insurance provider a wide birth when the policy comes up for renewal.
