The easy application process also comes in for praise in Hastings Direct Car Insurance review feedback, as does their good customer service, while one member says they were very helpful following an accident. Members are happy with the good rate of cashback offered and the fact that it is paid on time, while one was surprised to receive a reminder that cashback was payable in their account.

Hastings Direct’s four-star rating on Trustpilot is largely down to people saying such things as “cheapest on the Internet” or “brilliant and easily the cheapest by miles”. Customers are also happy with what they describe as a reasonable excess and the fact their policy includes personal accident cover, while another was delighted to get good comprehensive cover at a reasonable price with lots of extras included.

One person who left feedback says Hastings beat their renewal quote by £500, while they are also thanked for always being friendly and helpful, providing a “great price for a young driver” and for the fact it is easy to manage a policy online. Hastings Direct need to send their customer services on a course to learn how to talk to people politely. Phoned up to query something on our paperwork and the operator was offhand and nonchalant . Very upsetting.

Although the cash back experience was ok I was disappointed to be charged £35 administration fee to change the mileage on my policy. I was told that if I had rung their advisors rather than complete online I would have been advised that I had put a lower than average mileage amount. I wonder how many others have been charged this fee?

Hi all Just to warn you that when I clicked for my quote (it took 43 minutes for their slow system to get me a quote) and went to pay, Hastings are not offering any means of payment other than monthly direct debit. This incurs as 29.9% APR!!! If you aren't prepared to pay monthly, you can't purchase the policy. Best wishes.

Bought a car policy 26 Sep 2010 and was disappointed that the estimated payable date was 28 Feb 2011 - 5 months. However I am pleased to say my cashback is now payable as at 18 Feb 2011. I am happy that the date given was REALSITIC, not like other fantasy dates given by some retailers. (I am still waiting for one cashback 2 months after its estimated payment date). If only all retailers would give a realistic date the whole experience would be better. Well done Hastings I will definitely consider you in future. I think you are for me the first cashback for a year where I haven't had to wait over the estimated period of payment or have had to chase up!

TIP OF THE DAY = use comarison sites to see who is the top 5, use fake name,email,tel no.use postcode but 3 doors down .find an identical car on e--y and type the reg in .NOW ERASE ALL COOKIES then use a different web browser to go to TOPCASHBACK and put ur genuine details in . thnx topcashback/hastings

I wish I had read this before I took out insurance with them we have two policies now due to be paid out having been confirmed etc and now TCB says its waiting for payment from the company. It seems to be common with insurance companies as it took me over a year to be paid out by Morethan. Looks like I may be heading to the smalls claims court again. Why does TCB continue to deal with companies like this? Has anyone actually been paid out?

Tracked then disappeared from account. Claim submitted, no responce after 5 months. *I would not recommend using these if you are basing you choice on their cashback - because it seems unlkely that you will get it*

Hi I purchased car insurance back in October. I was aware of te 3 moths for the cashback tobe received however the cashback is not even been tracked. the cash back offered was £61 and I never received it. I will never ever trust hastings Direct again. Top Cash back has not bothered to provide an answer to my enquiry for at least 2 months despite contact nudges and questions. This is a scam so be warned!

Paid policy in full mid September so 90 days up mid December. Status as of today still pending, with a possible payment date of end of Feb. Misleading, saying will be paid 90 days after policy start date. Will not use this company again even if it ever does pay out. They also ring a few days after policy start date trying to frighten you into paying for extras, totally underhand.

This company never paid the promised cashback. They tracked my purchase and then withdrew it very quickly. TCB have been notified, but nothing has happened, I have not received my £58 cashback and would not have bought my car insurance from them if I had known. Hastings you are shocking and an absolute disgrace to any genuine company that would honour their cashback. Do no use this disappointing company!

Took out a policy in July 2010, and still waiting for Cashback. Sent through a claim, but all it states is Waiting for Retailer. Be aware you probably won't get they cashback advertised.

Its been a full year, my insurance is up for renewal and i have only just received a message from TCB after submitting an manual claim about (10 months ago!) that hastings have agreed the TCB. Now i await and see how long it takes to show in my account. 1 year must be a record!

Even if Hastings direct gives the lowest quote I would NOT RECCOMEND you use this company. The service they offer if you make a claim (as I have) is shocking. If you would need a speedy payout/solution to an accident then go with another company. Hastings Direct keep you on hold and do nothing unless you constantly pester them. Just imagine how much money you will spend on phone calls. To add insult to injury, I still have not received the cash back 9 months on from taking the policy despite it tracking perfectly. Avoid this company and warn your family and friends. Wish Id paid the extra on the premium and gone with direct line.
