I reviewed American Express a month ago with one star as I had not be paid after 8 months. Magically, the day after I reviewed, the transaction moved to 'confirmed' and four weeks later it is now 'payable', so I have decided to write a new review (I can't edit the old one for some reason) giving them three stars, as I can now confirm my transaction has been paid, but it did take 8.5 months which is quite a long time. Something to bear in mind if you're hoping the cash with come quickly.

I applied for, and received, my Amex card in January and the cashback is still pending 8 months later. The topcashback customer care team have advised they have not been paid by Amex yet which is why I haven't received the cashback. Given the other negative reviews for Amex, I am starting to wonder if this cashback incentive is actually a con to get people to apply. I think most people apply for this card as the cashback covers the first year's fee. If that it why you are applying I would suggest going for a different card instead as you are not guaranteed to get this payment.
