The “price was amazing” is how one of our satisfied members described the deal they got on their car insurance from Hastings Direct. Others describe their insurance as cheap and highlight how they had received a “great insurance deal”.

The easy application process also comes in for praise in Hastings Direct Car Insurance review feedback, as does their good customer service, while one member says they were very helpful following an accident. Members are happy with the good rate of cashback offered and the fact that it is paid on time, while one was surprised to receive a reminder that cashback was payable in their account.

Hastings Direct’s four-star rating on Trustpilot is largely down to people saying such things as “cheapest on the Internet” or “brilliant and easily the cheapest by miles”. Customers are also happy with what they describe as a reasonable excess and the fact their policy includes personal accident cover, while another was delighted to get good comprehensive cover at a reasonable price with lots of extras included.

One person who left feedback says Hastings beat their renewal quote by £500, while they are also thanked for always being friendly and helpful, providing a “great price for a young driver” and for the fact it is easy to manage a policy online. Other Hastings Direct Car Insurance reviews highlight how they are great at dealing with claims and that payment was authorised within nine days of informing them of an accident, as well as them being helpful when someone wanted to make a change to their policy.

Does not even give you a quote after entering your details. I have now entered my information about 10 times using the top cashback link and changed my browsers but upon entering my final details for the quote the page just crashes and gives no quote information. In the end I just ended up buying the insurance from their direct page. Very disappointed with the inconvenience caused.

I bought the insurance in December 2013, and now it is August 2014 and the cashback has still not arrived. It is ridiculous, and we are not talking about peanuts. If you are relying on the cashback for a good deal, AVOID!

In the interests of fairness I'm posting today because I've had a result with Hastings Direct. I have previously made some negative comments about delays to cashback but today the cashback went into my bank account. These are the timescales to make your own judgement about this retailer. Transaction date 6th February 2014, policy start date March 2nd cashback paid out on 24th July.

Sadly the cashback from this merchant is PAINFULLY SLOW and there's a bit of a con going on. Hastings Direct say if you haven't received cashback more than 130 days from policy start date, which is HIGHLY LIKELY, you should raise a claim with topcashback. BUT you CAN'T because topcashback only investigate up to 100 days from purchase date. So it's a NON STARTER and the customer is STUCK with NO cashback and NO ONE to complain to or chase things up!!!!!!!! BEWARE of this merchant

Not very optimistic about cashback Policy start date March 2nd June 17th Transaction still pending!!! Merchant notes show a very narrow payment opportunity between 110 days and 130 days after policy start date Rather dubious about it all!!!

Will not allow me to complete my transaction online! Quote all ok, price good, click on complete and a pop up box appears telling me I have to call them to complete the purchase - which will result in no cash back if I do.

Setting up new policy very straightforward and expect good level of service associated with their 5-star rating. BUT be aware that the £57.75 cashback currently offered for Premium policies only tracked as £39.90. So if this is key to deciding on Hastings ....

Insurance due in 23 days. Took out Hastings last year & within 10 hours of policy kicking in, I had an accident. It was sorted very swiftly, no hassle. Had to laugh because due to type of accident, in the middle of Dartmoor, I was asked if there was any CCTV of the incident!! I am looking to renew now & it would take a lot to go anywhere else. VERY happy with this company

I did a quote through a comparison sight and Hastings Premier came in at £306.89 (with pay monthly charges) or 267.09 (paying annually). The normal Hastings Direct quote came in at £256.20 (with pay monthly charges) or 222.98 (paying annually). I thought I was about to bag a great deal with £57 cash back off the Premier cover UNTIL I done the quote through this site!! I used EXACTLY the same information as I did on the comparison website and I just could not believe my eyes when I saw the quote £1,021.07 for the Premier and £930.13 for the normal one. I rang Hastings and gave them my quote reference from the comparison sight and asked him why the difference was so huge he said he did not know but he went through my quote and he said the best he was getting was £356 (with key care) for the premier. I do expect there to be bit of a difference in price at times but £714 difference is a joke!! I even did the quote on here twice to make sure I hadn't made a mistake. Can you please tell me why the price differences are so significant please? Thanks sonjaj1962

Gone for both car and home policies with Hastings and although you do have to wait a long time mine have both paid out on cashback. cant comment on them as a company as I have never had to put in a claim thank goodness but I was insured with them many many years ago and someone reversed into me and they were very good and got things sorted and repaired with an assessor visitng my house to look at the damage.

The insurance itself was great value and gave a considerable discount over other providers offering an equal policy. However, the cashback is incredibly slow form this murchant - It has now been 3 months and is still only showing as confirmed.

7 months after purchasing Hastings car insurance i'm still waiting for the cashback to even be confirmed. I submitted a claim to Topcashback over 5 months ago but nothing heard from the merchant. I wouldn't recommend Hastings for cashback!
