The “price was amazing” is how one of our satisfied members described the deal they got on their car insurance from Hastings Direct. Others describe their insurance as cheap and highlight how they had received a “great insurance deal”.

The easy application process also comes in for praise in Hastings Direct Car Insurance review feedback, as does their good customer service, while one member says they were very helpful following an accident. Members are happy with the good rate of cashback offered and the fact that it is paid on time, while one was surprised to receive a reminder that cashback was payable in their account.

Hastings Direct’s four-star rating on Trustpilot is largely down to people saying such things as “cheapest on the Internet” or “brilliant and easily the cheapest by miles”. Customers are also happy with what they describe as a reasonable excess and the fact their policy includes personal accident cover, while another was delighted to get good comprehensive cover at a reasonable price with lots of extras included.

One person who left feedback says Hastings beat their renewal quote by £500, while they are also thanked for always being friendly and helpful, providing a “great price for a young driver” and for the fact it is easy to manage a policy online. Other Hastings Direct Car Insurance reviews highlight how they are great at dealing with claims and that payment was authorised within nine days of informing them of an accident, as well as them being helpful when someone wanted to make a change to their policy.

Waste of time. Bought policy in May 2012 and am still awaiting cashback despite raising a claim after 90 days. Won't use Hastings again.

Took the insurance out in Feb 2012 and still no cashback...Topcashback have done their very best to try and resolve this, but still on hold with Hastings. Didnt renew with Hasting this year

I would never use this company again and I would seriously consider using topcashback again. i put a claim in back in October 2012 and after many many messages and emails from topcashback they have now just this minute said they have had no resolution with hastings and have had to re submit my cashback claim again. This has taken nearly 4 months only for them to start all over again. Hastings owe me £40 and I not going to let this drop. The only reason I went with them was on price as with the cashback they worked out the cheapest. It doesnt always pay to try and save money as this has been a nightmare of an experience.

Got through the whole quote process, accepted to buy and can't buy online, so will not get cashback, tried 3 times and got the same problem, when I phone Hastings they say there is no reason why I shouldn't have been able to buy online as all my details are correct and checks came back fine so I feel its obviously a way of avoiding payment of cashback as I've had to buy over phone which took me 40 minuntes on hold even to get through

Tracked and paid out no problem. Haven't had any problems with phone calls as reported by others. Efficient responses to e-mails. Used these several times and always got paid

Beware!! You will get bombarded with phone calls from these and they don't stop. They have my money this year, but never again. Rated highly ONLY to near the top, they don't deserve any rating at all apart from minus due to harassment!

Not very happy with this one. I purchased my car insurance through them because of the cashback on offer. Initially, it said that the cashback would be payable once you'd held the policy for 3 months - fair enough, they want to be sure that you don't cancel. However, 4 months down the line & they are now saying that it won't become payable for at least 21 weeks. They have moved the goalposts which I don't think is right. I dread to think what will happen if I need to claim. No doubt there will be 'get out' clauses for everything. I also found that the quote was changing each time you log in so beware if you want to compare & come back as it is likely to have increased. I won't be using this company again.

As someone else has mentioned, I too have found my quote being significantly higher going through TCB than went I went direct. Check both ways first before buying.

ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE. AVOID. I've been doing cashback since before TCB existed, I understand exactly how it works. This is another company that is fobbing it's customers off. This is why you should always make the rule that the cashback amount shouldn't be taken into account when factoring cost of insurance. Insurance companies are the worst for these cases. Needless to say cashback was rejected for no other reason than a generic statement by TCB after manual enquiry. Not TCB fault ultimately. Don't use this company when factoring in cashback amount. Feelow recent comments sum it up. Enough of the truth will drive a point across. Losing X amount of customers from bad reviews for the sake of saving yourselves £40 quid, hope it's worth it in the end!

Cashback required manual tracking despite not having issues with other merchants. 3 months later declined due to the dreaded "Another marketing channel was credited with this sale" despite no third party being involved. TC claiming they can do nothing, so avoid!

Beware of the £20 "arrangement fee" (not included in the quote) that's slapped on at the last minute. Also hidden credit-card fees and no doubt a few other hidden extras. I don't doubt the cashback works ok, but they're not having my business. No idea how they got that 5-star award, unless it's the Five Star Lying Scumbags Award.

I appreciate all the positive feedback given on purchase through Topcash back and always recommend Topcash back BUT BEWARE OF TRYING TO CLAIM FOLLOWING AN ACCIDENT. If you don't believe me google hastings direct reviews and check out a few sites and you will find a lot of very unhappy customers. They will not fix our car unless we sign a finance agreement which does not have an total amount. The replacement / hire cars are refused. They will charge an additional £1000 excess if you do not use a specific garage My mobile bill is about £140 / month more than normal The garages are not necessarily authorised the carry out work by the manufacturer this will invalidate your warantee Yes they are cheap but do drive carefully or the stress and heartache they will cause you on top of an accident is out of all proportion to anything you may save.

have waited since dec 2011 for a cashback claim for £40.00 to be recieved now on the 12th of september 2012 the cashback has been refused !!! do not order from this company and if you do be prepared for a lengthy wait and possible refusal. Terrible company when trying to deal with them with there insurance f any problems also.. I have used hastings for a few years before and they have gne down hill !!!

I had the opposite experience than others, going direct the quote was £260 for car insurance, went through topcashback and the quote was £208 and £50.50 cahback has tracked in a few hours

DO NOT BUY CAR INSURANCE THROUGH TOP CASHBACK FOR HASTINGS DIRECT!!!!! If you do you will pay £10 more for your insurance!!!! Why? Because although they offer £45.45 if you go through Top Cashback Hastings Direct then up their insurance quote by £55.... This is RUDE!!!!! Top Cashback - sort this out their are keeping all of our cash back as they offer no benefit at all for going through you.... they are stealing the cash back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Quote was over £100 more via TopCashback than through MoneySupermarket. I hate it when retailers offer cash back, then ramp up their prices by far more to compensate. It's dishonest, and if it's not illegal it damn well should be. Not TCB's fault I guess, although they could police it maybe.
